La gran carretera parece estar formada por unos bloques gigantescos de piedra, lo cual llega a la cuestión de cómo una civilización tan antigua pudo transportar dichas rocas para construir una estructura de estas dimensiones. Por la zona en la que se ha hallado la carretera muchos creen que se trata del continente perdido de Mu, que supuestamente sería el lugar donde hace unos 12.000 años una civilización perdido habría vivido.
Otros investigadores más escépticos han dicho que cabe la posibilidad de que sea de origen natural. Aún es pronto para saberlo pero un equipo de investigadores se está encargando de tratar de averiguar el origen de esta misteriosa carretera que ha estado durante años bajo el mar.
