Todo el mundo está pendiente a las portadas de The Economist, populares por las advertencias que lanzan al planeta. Según algunos se trata de una agenda a cumplirse teniendo marcadas las fechas de la crisis sanitaria o la derrota de Trump por ejemplo.
Este mes de noviembre ha sido inusualmente escogido por The Economist para revelar la portada de 2021. Siempre suelen publicarla en diciembre y este adelanto ha hecho crecer las preguntas de los espectadores.
La portada muestra la profecía para el año siguiente, preocupante casi e incluso más que este año.

Como podemos apreciar, The Economist da a entender que el futuro del nuevo año está en manos del azar. Una máquina tragamonedas muestra el futuro del mundo que lo determinará quien accione la palanca del planeta.
Todas las opciones que nos dan son las siguientes:
Un virus, una bomba atómica, una interrogación, estadística ascendente, la vacuna, Joe Biden, el símbolo del dólar, un árbol en llamas, una mascarilla, Estados Unidos quebrados, molino de viento, el icono de Zoom, el icono de TikTok y la bandera de China.
De las cuatro ruedas, tres de ellas están en movimiento y una parada. Lo podemos saber debido al efecto de movimiento de los iconos. La segunda de las ruedas es la detenida.
En ella podemos ver la bomba atómica, a Joe Biden, los Estados Unidos quebrados y el símbolo de TikTok. Parece ser que se ha detenido en Joe Biden. ¿Qué significará esto? ¿Habría alguna posibilidad de que se hubiese detenido en alguna otra?
Podría parecer simplemente el diseño de la portada sin más pero The Economist se caracteriza por sus mensajes subliminales.
Para accionar la máquina tragamonedas hay que utilizar una palanca que en el mango tiene una Tierra. ¿Estamos en una ruleta rusa en la que la élite acciona esta máquina dando resultados al azar que nos perjudicarán?

El símbolo del dólar podría referirse a dinero en general. Una realidad es que el dinero digital es el futuro, y no muy lejano. Tal vez nos están queriendo decir que llega el final del dinero en efectivo.
China podría imponerse económicamente a otras naciones relacionándolo con su ascenso.
Este 2020 ha estado marcado de devastadores incendios forestales como los de Australia, América del Sur o el Amazonas. Sería de esperar que este 2021 hubiesen más.
El símbolo del virus inquieta a los investigadores. ¿Empeorará la pandemia?
Cualquiera puede interpretar la portada de maneras distintas. Nada es seguro. Lo único certero es que 2021 será difícil y debemos solucionar los errores que nos han marcado este 2020.
